International Competition on Sustainable Architecture and Design 2007

GrAT organized ICSAD 2007 to give architecture students an insight on sustainable building solutions and to encourage them to integrate this new perspective in their design activities. With the funding of Austrian Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT) and the support from Sekisui Chemical, 20 selected candidates from 8 countries in Asia, Europe and America were invited to Austria to further develop their draft design with the mentoring of international experts. The participating students could learn how to utilize traditional knowledge and renewable materials to design buildings in a modern context. The best visionary works were exhibited at the European Forum Alpbach, the annual event for thematic networking for science, economy and politics in Europe.
